PLEASE HELP DAWG SAVE SHELTER DOGS!

All shelters are overloaded, and most euthanize animals after a limited number of days, if not immediately when full. Don't blame them! There are too many unwanted dogs -- young and old, healthy and sick, small and large, purebred and mixed breed. The waste and betrayal of innocent, dependent lives is a disgrace, but it impels those of us who care to act.

What can YOU do?

Help DAWG take in dogs from shelters, care for them as they recover from illnesses and injuries, and give them time until the right adopter is found for each one. When you help save lives through DAWG, you learn each dog's story, read updates on their own web pages, and eventually rejoice when we announce their adoptions.

DAWG's general medical expenses have increased in 2010. Thank goodness we have not had an emergency requiring specialty surgery or extraordinary care beyond what our own veterinarian can provide...but we have to be prepared. In the meantime, the cost of care for a dog taken from the shelter and quarantined until well enough to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated can cost approximately $1,000 "right off the top!" Whether a dog has heartworms or even needs a dental or tooth removal, we provide what each dog needs to be well and ready for adoption. We don't count on adoption fees to keep us going; those fees hardly "dent" our expenses.

Our commitment is to help the dogs who need us most, even if our budget would stretch more if we took in dogs from owners or other sources where the dog would be more likely well or needing less than a shelter dog. But we champion shelter dogs, because these dogs have run out of time.

There is no magic source of revenue...just you. Please keep us going, so we can give a future to dogs just like the faces already on our website. They are alive, well. and awaiting homes because of compassionate individuals who chose to get involved through their generous support.

THANK YOU.

Best Dawg Rescue, Inc. (DAWG) needs YOUR financial support.
Medical care can amount to hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars depending
on our dogs' injuries from abuse and neglect. Donations are spent on the
animals in our care. Only 3.77% is spent on necessary administrative expenses
(telephone, photocopying, etc.).

HERE IS HOW KINDHEARTED INDIVIDUALS HELP OUR DOGS BECOME WELL AND FIND LOVING HOMES...

DONATE THROUGH THE COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN, UNITED WAY, or AMERICAN CHARITIES
In the CFC or any workplace payroll deduction campaign, a donation of $10/pay period
per annum can give life-saving heartworm treatment to a dog, or a donation of
$50/pay period per annum can give orthopedic ACL or FHO surgeries so that a dog
can live a normal life without pain. ANY amount will help to provide routine,
specialized or emergency care for our dogs. Just select DAWG's CFC ID #51169,
or "write in" Best Dawg Rescue in another campaign.

VIRTUAL ADOPTIONS AND MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
Please help dogs in foster care who can't be adopted for medical reasons or
who currently need significant medical care. For example, Amy:

We took in Amy on an emergency basis
(according to the veterinarian "8 hours away from death").
Amy was emaciated (only 4.5 lbs), and was severely
anemic, requiring a blood transfusion and 24 hour care.
Amy immediately after her rescue:

Amy has since recovered and is adopted!

If Amy could make a wish, it would be that other dogs would get the same chance she was given. Please support DAWG so that we can continue to provide significant medical support to future dogs like Amy.
