When Pebbles was
at a local shelter, she was going to be euthanized
because of a mangled leg. DAWG stepped in to save her.
Emergency reconstructive surgery failed, so we approved
having her leg amputated.
Although this seemed to be an undesirable outcome,
Pebbles is so full of joy and fun that she doesn't seem
to notice or miss her leg.
Then
Pebbles was diagnosed with Cushing's syndrome, which
requires medication and regular blood work, as well as
paying attention to when Pebbles has to go outside. Dogs
with Cushing's syndrome need to urinate often, but
otherwise feel good.
Pebbles
hasn't had the best of luck, until now.
At this stage of her life, we feel what is in Pebbles'
best interest is to stay in her foster home, where she
is surrounded by a family that adores her and doesn't
mind the "extra "work" Pebbles may require. So Pebbles
is home at last!
DAWG will continue to pay for Pebbles' medical needs.
When we post dogs as "virtual
adoptions," it's because they may have medical problems
that people are not always willing to assume. These
virtual adoptions stay with their foster parents and
live out their lives in homes that cherish them. In the
end, what could be better than that?
