Our new
Penny came
to us as a medical disaster, requiring surgery on both knees! We had
just acquired her when she went into heat, delaying her spay and a
dental, let alone knee surgeries for knees "stuck" in an "out" position.
The knee surgeries will have to be done one at a time, allowing her to
use one leg for support while the other heals. Each will have at least a
six week recovery. Poor sweet Penny! To think she has had to walk
in discomfort throughout her life. But that will be behind Penny soon!
Penny was subdued when we took her in, but she's "turned a page" and is
quite spunky! She can't get enough love and attention and loves to be
held. So Penny is a normal, wonderful dog.
Despite Penny's pending surgeries, Penny can be adopted. Penny won't be
able to go up and down steps or run around when recovering from her knee
surgeries, but she will enjoy limited walks and living on one floor of
her adopter's home. Penny could ease into a calm home with no problem.
DAWG will cover all of Penny's medical needs for her dental, spay and
knee surgeries through our veterinarian, so an adopter need not worry
about these expenses.
