Sugar was the most popular dog in the shelter. That saved her life, because the shelter wasn't going to let her be euthanized until they made sure she had the chance she deserved.

When we took Sugar in, we could see why the shelter was so desperate to save her. You can tell in a second that she is, yes, sugar sweet. You also sense Sugar's fragility and trusting nature. Sugar looks to the person handling her with utter devotion, but she has love to spare. Recently a family who wasn't looking for a dog visited with Sugar. Before we knew it, the family's little boy and Sugar saw each other, and it was love at first sight!  They hugged, played, and then Sugar flipped upside down in pure bliss. We normally limit interaction with children at shows because of the stress many dogs feel, but the easy way this young boy and Sugar had with each other was a joy to see.

Now that Sugar has been with us for a while, we are delighted with each new thing she shows us! Sugar can play hard with other dogs, but quiets down quickly. Sugar is calm, not a barker, and she's great to walk, neither fearful or pulling on the leash. She is choosy about her dog friends but is attuned to what her human wants. The only exception is that she would rather have a cat for dinner than live with one!

If you want to be showered with sweetness, our precious Sugar is waiting for you!
