Tally absolutely adores her volunteer friends and greets them with full-blast enthusiasm at adoption shows. Unfortunately, shows are too stimulating for Tally, so after a while she becomes fearful of all the hands outstretched to pat her head…and then there are feet! Tally does not like the feet on approaching strangers, resulting in a fight-or-flight response because she can’t escape them. It’s also likely that she had been stepped on in her past. Interestingly, she likes the volunteers’ feet, so her response to feet is all about defending herself.

When Tally is relaxed (well, relaxed in terrier terms) and not “threatened” by strangers, she is a joy to be around and will be a treasure in a quiet, adult home. Tally is super-smart and settles beautifully when all is calm. Time and familiarity is all Tally needs to be happy…oh, and patient human-friend with a sense of humor!

If you’d like to meet Tally, it would be best to avoid adoption shows and opt for a private appointment.

Please note that we will require a fenced yard if applicants are in a home.

For more information on Tally, or any of the other wonderful DAWG dogs, please submit an online application. There is no obligation. Once your application is received, a DAWG volunteer will contact you.
